Farmer’s body found in pond after 4 days missing

Police in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah, have recovered the body of a farmer, Md Mofizul Islam, 45, from a pond near his home, four days after he went missing.

The body was recovered at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, August 20, from a pond belonging to Anwar Hossain in Harindia Jhamaghata village, in the upazila’s Kushna union. Mofizul Islam was the son of the late Moslem Uddin of the same village.

According to local and family sources, Mofizul suddenly went missing from his home four days earlier.

Family members searched various places, including with the help of relatives, but were unable to find him.

On Thursday morning, local residents spotted a body floating in the pond near his home and alerted police. Relatives then went to the scene and identified the body as Mofizul Islam.

After being alerted, Kotchandpur police station officers went to the scene and recovered the body.

Kotchandpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azad Rahman said the body of Mofizul Islam, who had been missing for four days, was recovered from the pond near his home. An inquest report is being prepared, and the body is being sent to the morgue for autopsy. The actual cause of death will be known after the autopsy report is received.

The recovery of Mofizul’s body has caused a stir in the area. His death has cast a pall of grief over his family and relatives.
