GHORAGHAT, Dinajpur — A mobile court fined a filling station manager 20,000 taka on Wednesday for violating consumer protection law, officials said.
The court convicted Abdullah Al Mamun, manager of Sadhana Filling Station in Ghoraghat upazila, around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The fine was imposed under sections 40 and 45 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
The mobile court was led by upazila executive officer and executive magistrate Rubana Tanjin. Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam of Ghoraghat police station and other law-enforcement members assisted the operation.
According to officials, the operation was conducted following complaints of disorder caused by the sale of fuel without the fuel cards required by the upazila administration. The fine was imposed immediately after the complaint was verified.
Upazila executive officer Rubana Tanjin said the administration introduced fuel cards to bring order to the pumps and address mismanagement. She said disorder was created when fuel was sold without cards. “The pump manager sold about 1,500 to 2,000 liters of fuel without fuel cards. This created disorder, which is why we collected a fine of 20,000 taka under the consumer rights law,” she said.
