July Martyrs’ Day discussion meeting held in Gangni

A discussion meeting marking ‘July Martyrs’ Day 2026′ was held with due dignity and solemnity in Gangni upazila of Meherpur.

The meeting, organised by the upazila administration, was held at 11am on Thursday (16 July) in the Gangni upazila parishad auditorium. It was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Anwar Hossain and conducted by Abdullah Al Masum.

Speakers at the meeting included Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Motiar Rahman; Gangni police station’s acting officer-in-charge (OC) Muhaddid Morshed; district freedom-fighter commander Shamsul Alam Sona; National Citizen Party (NCP) central joint chief coordinator and Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer, of assistant attorney general rank, Advocate Sakil Ahmad; Gangni upazila BNP president Alfaz Uddin Kalu; Gangni upazila Jamaat Amir Md Rabiul Islam; Kazipur union parishad chairman Mu Alam Hussain; July-movement fighter and then-IUBAT student Tanvir Mehedi Emon; municipal BNP president Makbul Hossain Meghla; NCP Gangni upazila coordinator Abdullah Al Mahmud; Gangni Press Club president Touhid Ud Doula Reza; upazila press club president Zulfikar Ali Kanon; Gangni Technical School and College principal Abul Kalam Azad Swapan; and journalist Amirul Islam Aldam.

The speakers remembered the sacrifice of the July uprising’s martyrs with deep respect. They also called on everyone to work together, in the spirit of the martyrs’ ideals, to build a discrimination-free, just and democratic Bangladesh.

Officials of various government offices, teachers and students of various educational institutions, and representatives of political, social and cultural organisations, along with other dignitaries, attended the event.
