Opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said the political crisis in the country has arisen from the failure to respect the referendum result.

He made the remarks at a citizens’ assembly and discussion session on Wednesday morning, organized to address public grievances in the Dhaka-15 constituency.

On the national budget, he said it was close to what he had expected. He called for a collective effort by the government, the opposition, and ordinary citizens to resolve the country’s problems.

He also urged cooperation with police to improve law and order and advised families to remain aware of their children’s movements and associates.
