Man’s body found with gunshot wounds in Khulna

Police have recovered the body of a 21-year-old man, Emon, with gunshot wounds from a fish enclosure on the south side of Arangghata railway station in Khulna city.

Police went to the spot and recovered the body at about 5.30pm on Monday, 27 July, after being informed by residents of the area.

Emon was the son of Sobhan Sheikh, a resident of the Arangghata area.

The initial assumption is that unidentified people killed him and left the body there.

The officer in charge of Arangghata police station, Md Halimur Islam, said local residents informed police after seeing a young man lying with gunshot wounds. On receiving the news, police went quickly to the scene and recovered him dead. An investigation has begun around the scene.

Senior officers of the Khulna Metropolitan Police and the police crime scene unit have reached the spot and are collecting evidence. Every possible lead is being checked to identify those involved in the killing. The body will be sent to the morgue at Khulna Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
