Khulna observed Eid-e-Miladunnabi (peace be upon him) with due solemnity and reverence. A discussion on the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), a prize-giving ceremony for a hamd and naat competition, and a prayer gathering were held Wednesday afternoon, August 26, at the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nagar Bhaban premises to mark the occasion. KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju attended as chief guest.

At the event, the chief guest said the ideals of the Prophet (peace be upon him) need to be upheld, followed and emulated. He said the Prophet fought to establish Islam, worked to establish the faith, and taught the practice of religion.

The discussion, organized by Khulna City Corporation and chaired by KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, with senior license officer Md Moniruzzaman Rahim moderating, was attended by chief engineer Moshiuzzaman Khan, secretary Md Reza Rashid, ward-level authorized officers, and other KCC officials and staff.

The discussion on the life and teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) featured Islamic Foundation deputy director Md Abdullah, KCC Teachers’ Association president Nasir Uddin Kashemi, Imam Council general secretary Maulana Md Golam Kibria, and Maulana Md Musfiqur Rahman.

After the program, the chief guest handed out prizes to students who won the hamd-naat competition.

Separately, to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi (peace be upon him), the district administration and Bangladesh Shishu Academy Khulna jointly organized essay, hamd and naat competitions, a discussion, a prize-giving ceremony and a prayer gathering with student participation.

Prayer gatherings were also organized at mosques across the district with support from district and upazila administrations and mosque committees. Educational institutions, cultural organizations, the Islamic Foundation and other religious institutions held discussions on the life, work and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as well as on peace, progress, harmony, tolerance, universal brotherhood, human rights and the dignity of women in Islam. Recitation competitions, prayer gatherings, hamd-naat performances, poetry readings, student cultural competitions and quiz competitions on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were also held. For children, there were hamd-naat performances, poetry recitals on the Prophet’s life and work, discussions and essay competitions.
