A 25-year-old grocery shopkeeper was found injured and bleeding by the roadside in Mirpur, Kushtia, and died after being taken to hospital on Thursday.
Locals found Ripon Kazi near his shop along the Kushtia-Meherpur highway in the Taltala area of Mirpur municipality early in the morning. He was first taken to Mirpur Upazila Health Complex, and when his condition worsened, he was transferred to Kushtia General Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Ripon was a resident of Ward 4 in Mirpur municipality and the son of Alam Kazi. He ran a grocery shop in the area.
Police said the victim had head injuries. The body has been sent to the morgue at Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy. The exact cause of death has not been determined and will be confirmed after the autopsy report, police said.
Mirpur police station officer-in-charge Md. Shahidul Islam said: “The body has been placed in the morgue for autopsy. The cause of death will be confirmed by the autopsy report. An investigation has been launched.”
