Rather than building an education system focused solely on certificates, students must be developed in a way that makes them employable once they finish their studies, Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Mahdi Amin has said.
He made the comment Friday, August 21, at a two-day national-level policy discussion with vice chancellors and teachers in Savar, aimed at transforming and improving the quality of higher education in Bangladesh. Mahdi Amin said curricula must be designed in line with students’ real-life needs. Alongside this, he said, universities must take the initiative to introduce on-campus part-time job arrangements to increase opportunities for students to gain experience and skills. He added that steps must also be taken to stop brain drain.
