Free seeds and fertilizer distributed to 3,490 farmers in Ullapara

Free seeds and chemical fertilizer were distributed to 3,490 farmers in Ullapara upazila, Sirajganj, under the government’s Kharif-2 season agricultural incentive program for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The distribution ceremony was held at the Ullapara upazila parishad hall on Thursday morning, organized by the upazila agriculture office. It was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Raihanul Islam, with Sirajganj-4 (Ullapara) MP Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan as chief guest.

According to the upazila agriculture office, 2,200 farmers received 5 kg of transplanted aman rice seeds, 10 kg of MOP fertilizer, and 10 kg of DAP fertilizer each. Another 1,100 farmers received 300 grams of summer vegetable seeds, 100 farmers received 300 grams of summer onion seeds, and 90 farmers received 300 grams of green chili seeds, each with 15 kg of MOP and 15 kg of DAP fertilizer.

MP Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said: “I am the son of a farmer, and I am proud of this identity. The government is implementing various incentive programs to boost agricultural production and reduce farmers’ costs. These inputs must be properly utilized to strengthen the country’s food security through increased production.”

Upazila Agriculture Officer Subarna Yasmin Sumi presented an overview of the upazila’s agricultural situation and the goals of the incentive program.
