Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem under Israeli police escort on Thursday (July 2), Al Jazeera reported in a live broadcast.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA said settlers entered the mosque compound and performed Talmudic rituals.
Middle East Eye, citing the Jerusalem governorate, reported that dozens of settlers had conducted provocative marches and rituals in the compound on Wednesday.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third holiest site in Islam. Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, claiming it as the site of two ancient Jewish temples.
