WASHINGTON — Iran will be ‘wiped off the face of the earth’ if it attacks US ships, President Donald Trump warned, pushing an existing ceasefire between the two countries to the brink as tensions flared around the Strait of Hormuz.
Fresh hostilities have erupted in the Persian Gulf region. Iran struck the United Arab Emirates the same day, and Trump said the US military had fired on and sunk seven small Iranian boats near the Strait of Hormuz. Highlighting Washington’s military might, Trump again threatened Tehran.
‘We have a lot more, and far better, weapons and ammunition than we had before. We have the best equipment. We have our supplies all over the world. We have our bases all over the world. They’re all stocked with what’s needed. We can use those supplies, and if necessary, we will,’ he said.
Meanwhile, a military source quoted by Iran’s state news agency IRNA said the US claim of having sunk several Iranian warships was false.
