Wreckage of a medical transport plane that went missing on its way from Bermuda to Boston has been found, but there is still no sign of the six people on board, the US Coast Guard said.
The Federal Aviation Administration told the Coast Guard early on Saturday that it had lost contact with a Gulfstream G100 with the tail number C-GRJP. Searchers later found a debris field linked to the missing plane, and “the search for the six people on board continues”, the Coast Guard said. Four Canadians and two Bermudians were aboard.
The plane, operated by Canada-based Latitude Air Ambulance, went missing at about 1:30am, company spokesman Clarence Togeretz told AFP. On board were two pilots, two medical staff, a patient and a member of the patient’s family.
The company has a fleet of 10 aircraft that repatriate patients and others from around the world and provide emergency medical transport, according to its website. The Coast Guard said the search was continuing and a news conference would be held on Sunday morning.
