Six more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, and 2,089 patients have been admitted to hospital. That makes 17 deaths and 6,838 cases in the first four days of this month.
The figures came in a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Sunday.
Dhaka division outside the city corporations had the most new admissions in the 24 hours to 8am on Sunday, with 514. In the same period 1,865 patients were discharged after recovering.
Dengue cases this year now total 86,458 and deaths 262, the directorate said. Of all patients this year, 62.3 percent are male and 37.7 percent female.
