BHOLA — The Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in Bhola-2, covering Borhanuddin and Daulatkhan, has not withdrawn his nomination, even though the 10-party electoral alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami allocated the seat to the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), officials said.

However, Md. Abdus Salam, the candidate from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, another partner in the alliance, withdrew his nomination Tuesday, Jan. 20.

As a result, BNP nominee Md. Hafiz Ibrahim will face two candidates from the same 10-party alliance in the much-watched seat: Mohammad Fazlul Karim of Jamaat-e-Islami and Mokfar Uddin Chowdhury of LDP.
