MYMENSINGH — A motorcycle collided with a CNG auto-rickshaw at the Shimulia Bhandari intersection in Mymensingh’s Tarakanda upazila around 1 p.m. Saturday, killing two passengers and injuring three others, police said.
The dead were identified as Rubel, 20, and Riti, 8, both from Purbadhala thana in Netrakona district. They were passengers in the auto-rickshaw, police said.
The auto-rickshaw was heading from Netrakona toward Mymensingh when it struck a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, according to police and local sources. Rubel died at the scene. Riti was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but was declared dead on arrival, doctors said.
Three other people were injured and have been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, police said.
Aminul Islam, the officer in charge of Shyamganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the accident. He said two people were killed and three injured, and that the injured had been sent to Mymensingh for treatment.
