PANCHAGARH — Sadar upazila Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Abu Daud Pradhan held a news conference Friday night to dispute a viral video showing him unlocking a closed Awami League office.

Speaking at an impromptu news conference at a media house in the district town, the BNP leader said, “A video has been spread to discredit me by surrounding a single warehouse-like room. I do not know what those standing beside me said.”

Earlier Friday morning, the BNP leader was shown opening the Chaklahat union Awami League office in Sadar upazila. Standing beside him, Chaklahat union Awami League joint general secretary Kamruzzaman Bullet was heard saying, “Sadar upazila BNP president Abu Daud Pradhan has, in his first act here, freed the Chaklahat union Awami League — the lifeline of grassroots Awami League workers — from its locked state.” The Awami League leader’s remarks spread quickly on social media, drawing reactions from both sides.
