DINAJPUR — A coach of the Dolonchapa Express has derailed at Setabganj railway station in Dinajpur’s Bochaganj upazila, but other trains continued running on a parallel line, officials said.

The train derailed on Line 1, and traffic on Line 2 has remained normal.

The incident happened at 8:13 a.m. Sunday, March 29, at Setabganj station.

Setabganj station master Majnur Rahman said the Dolonchapa Express, traveling from Panchagarh to Santahar, derailed on two wheels of coach “Ga” as it entered Line 1. Recovery work is underway, he said. To minimize disruption for passengers, the derailed coach will be left in place and the train will continue toward Santahar with the remaining coaches.

Dinajpur station superintendent ABM Ziaur Rahman said the Dolonchapa Express derailed on Line 1 and that other trains are running normally on Line 2. He said the Ekota Express had left Panchagarh on schedule that morning and crossed Thakurgaon, Pirganj, Setabganj and Dinajpur stations en route to Dhaka.
