FULBARIA, Bangladesh — Al Amin High School in the Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh held its first alumni reunion in a festive atmosphere to mark its 60th anniversary.
The day-long event, organized by the Reunion Implementation Council, was held Monday, March 23, on the school grounds at Shibganj Hat Kalir Bazar. Former and current students, teachers, parents and others attended.
Mohammad Jahangir Alam, a former student of the school and president of the ad hoc committee, presided over the event. Member of Parliament Principal Kamrul Hasan Milon of the Fulbaria constituency was the chief guest.
Earlier, Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, managing partner of Mahima International Ltd., and others inaugurated the event by releasing pigeons.
Special guests included Robaid Ferdous, professor in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University; Rizvi Ahmed, additional commissioner of the National Board of Revenue; Laili Akter, assistant professor of economics at Kazi Nazrul Islam University; Anwar Hossain Badsha, former chairman of the upazila council; Dr. Abdur Razzaq, secretary of the upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami; Abdul Halim, general secretary of the Fulbaria Press Club; and former students Asaduzzaman and Golam Mostafa. School headmaster Abdullah Al Faruque read the citation.
The event was hosted by ATN Bangla television presenter Maria Shimu, former student and government official Shafiq, Taslima Ferdousi Shimu and Mohammad Khorshed Alam.
Honorary mementos were presented to former distinguished students of the institution. The Reunion Implementation Council also presented special mementos to the chief guest and other invited guests.
