BARISHAL — Reports circulating on social media about delays to the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams are baseless, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon said.
Milon made the remarks Tuesday, April 7, as chief guest at a meeting with central secretaries of the Barishal region on the SSC and equivalent exams.
The meeting was held at the Barishal District Shilpakala Academy.
The minister said some are spreading such rumors out of fear. The exams will be held at the scheduled time, he said. The schedule was set by the previous government, and question papers have already been printed.
He said the previous government embezzled 7,000 crore taka (about $580 million) belonging to teachers. Recovering such a large sum will require waiting for the next budget.
Ehsanul Haque Milon said the BNP government had set up the NTRCA in earlier years. But the previous government turned it into a hub of corruption. Plans will now be taken to appoint head teachers through the NTRCA, he said.
