SAVAR — A smear campaign has been launched against the National Citizen Party (NCP) out of jealousy over the crowds that turned out for its march, NCP convener Nahid Islam said.
He said the party had carried out a monthlong July march across the country. “Various conspiracies have been carried out against us. We have faced obstructions and attacks in various places. But we have not stopped. This wave of people cannot be stopped. The march cannot be stopped. God willing, in the Bangladesh of tomorrow, in the Dhaka of tomorrow, the wave of NCP supporters cannot be stopped,” he said.
He made the remarks while joining the “July march to build the country” at Baipail in Ashulia at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.
He said the collaborators of the fascist government had carried out repression against “our brothers” across the country. “Even if Sheikh Hasina is hanged 10 times, her crimes will not be reduced. The people of this country will never forgive her. They will never forgive the Awami League. They will never forgive any refined Awami League either,” he said.
Nahid said that at the Savar and Ashulia Baipail point, “our students and citizens” had fought chest-to-chest against fascist forces during the mass uprising. Savar and Ashulia were hot spots of the movement during the mass uprising, he said.
