DHAKA — Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has been admitted to a hospital in the capital since Wednesday for bypass surgery after multiple blockages were detected in his heart. On Thursday, interim government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus asked after his health and treatment.
The information was shared in a status post on the Jamaat chief’s verified Facebook page. In the post, made by an admin at 4:50 p.m., the party said Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus had called after learning that the Jamaat chief had been hospitalized for bypass surgery and had asked in detail about his physical condition and treatment. Yunus prayed for the Jamaat chief’s swift recovery, the post said. The Jamaat chief expressed his sincere gratitude and thanks to the chief adviser, and said: “May Almighty Allah grant the chief adviser the best of rewards.”
