Lohagara students take anti-corruption pledge

NARAIL — Students of Hafez Abdul Karim Academy in Lohagara upazila’s Lahuria union took an anti-corruption pledge on Thursday.

More than 400 students recited the pledge at midday on Thursday, Aug. 7, under the slogan “We will not be corrupt, and we will not tolerate corruption.”

Sharmin Islam, an executive member of the Lohagara upazila anti-corruption committee, administered the pledge. The event, organized by the committee with support from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), also featured an anti-corruption debate, essay and quiz competitions. Prizes and educational materials provided by the commission were distributed to students.

The chief guest was Tauhidul Islam, deputy assistant director of the ACC’s integrated district office in Jashore. Kohinoor Parvin, an executive member of the Lohagara upazila committee, presided.

Lohagara upazila agriculture officer Farzana Akhtar, school headmaster Ahiduzzaman, former committee president Sheikh Nazrul Islam and former vice-president Sheikh Kabir Hossain also spoke.
