DHAKA — Gold prices in Bangladesh have risen for the first time in a month.

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association, known as BAJUS, raised the price of top-grade 22-carat gold by 1,050 taka per bhori to set a new price of 172,650 taka, effective Wednesday. The previous price was 171,600 taka per bhori.

In a notice issued Tuesday, BAJUS said the new price was set after considering changes in the local price of pure gold and the overall market situation.

Under the new rates, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost 172,651 taka. The 21-carat rate is 164,801 taka per bhori, the 18-carat rate is 141,263 taka, and traditional-grade gold is set at 116,850 taka per bhori.

Previously, on July 24, the 22-carat rate was set at 171,601 taka per bhori, 21-carat at 163,798 taka, 18-carat at 140,400 taka, and traditional-grade at 116,127 taka.

Silver prices remain unchanged. By category, 22-carat silver is priced at 2,578 taka per bhori, 21-carat at 2,449 taka, 18-carat at 2,111 taka, and traditional-grade silver at 1,586 taka.
