DHAKA — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the party’s candidates for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election at a news conference at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Monday. A day later, the party said it had decided to suspend the nomination in one seat.
The decision was announced Tuesday afternoon in a news release signed by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The release said that at Monday’s news conference Kamal Jaman Mollah had been named as the nominee for Madaripur-1 (Shibchar upazila), one of 237 parliamentary seats announced. “Due to unavoidable circumstances, the announcement for Madaripur-1 (Shibchar upazila) and the name of the party’s nominee are being suspended,” the release said.
