ISLAMABAD — At least 12 people were killed and several others wounded in an explosion outside a court building in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, police said.
The Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera reported the toll on Tuesday.
A police spokesman quoted in the report said it was not yet clear what kind of explosion had taken place. “We are investigating,” the spokesman said. “More details will be known after we receive a report from the forensic team.”
The blast occurred near the entrance to the Islamabad district court, an area that is usually crowded. Local news outlets published several bloodied images from the scene showing wounded people lying near police vans.
