DHAKA — With political parties unable to reach agreement, the interim government itself must decide how to implement the July Charter, and the government will spell out its steps within two to three days, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said Tuesday.
Nazrul made the comments to reporters at an event at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital. “We have tried to meet the expectations of all parties,” he said. “Something good will happen, in the interest of the country and the people.”
The interim government, formed after the July uprising, set up a National Consensus Commission to recommend reforms in the constitution and other fundamental areas of state. The commission held talks with political parties and submitted its recommendations to the government on Oct. 27 on how the July Charter proposals should be put into effect.
