DHAKA — Dhaka University deputy registrar Muhammad Lablu Molla has been handed over to Shahbagh police for posting on Facebook about the death sentence given to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a crimes against humanity case. The university’s proctorial team and several students escorted him to the police station late Monday. Leaders of various hall student unions were also present.
After the verdict, Molla posted a card bearing an image of Sheikh Hasina on his personal Facebook account with the caption, “I don’t care.”
Moments before his arrest, he released a video declaring his innocence. “I am innocent. I am being taken into custody now. Inshallah, Sheikh Hasina will return, and Bangladesh will smile,” he said.
Confirming the incident, Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khaled Mansur said, “The proctorial team and students have brought him to the station. He posted on Facebook opposing the death sentence handed to Sheikh Hasina. Legal action is being processed against him.”
