RAJSHAHI — A 27-year-old man identified as Kajol died after falling from a coconut tree in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi, police said.
Police recovered his body around 6:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, from the old Dakbungalow area of Jhalmaliya in the upazila. The dead man is the son of Md. Kamal from the Jhalmaliya area of the upazila.
Citing local residents, police said Kajol was a regular drug user who routinely stole fruit from neighbors’ trees and sold them for drug money. He had climbed a coconut tree at the Dakbungalow sometime overnight or before dawn, and apparently fell to his death at the scene, police said.
Puthia police station officer in charge Kabir Hossain said it was believed Kajol had died falling from a coconut tree. The body has been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he said.
