BRAHMANBARIA — A youth was seriously wounded in a public shooting in Brahmanbaria stemming from a prior dispute, police said.
Sagar Mia was shot and gravely wounded in an attack by rivals on Wednesday evening, Dec. 17, in the town’s Munsefpara area. He is the son of Abu Sayeed, a resident of Phulbaria in the town.
According to accounts, Sagar was standing outside the Christian Mission Memorial Hospital in Munsefpara on Wednesday evening, speaking with someone on his mobile phone. Around 6:30 p.m., Imon Islam arrived with a group on motorcycles and attacked him. Local residents took him to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, and police reached the scene after being informed.
“In the evening, one person was wounded by gunfire in an attack by rivals in Munsefpara in the town,” said Md. Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of the Brahmanbaria Sadar Model police station. “Who carried it out and why this happened, we have not yet been able to find out. We are trying to learn the details.”
