Brigadier General Ali Balali, a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and adviser to its aerospace force, has said Iran’s weapons-making capacity was built around its military needs.

In an interview with Iran’s Fars News Agency, Balali said the country’s “missile industry has reached a stage where it no longer needs help from anyone”, Al Jazeera reported on Saturday.

He compared building missiles to learning to paint: once an artist has mastered the tools and techniques, he said, they can “paint any picture” they like.
