The government has issued a notification declaring 7 November a general holiday every year to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the notification on Wednesday.

The notification says that, in line with a decision of the cabinet meeting held on 5 October, the government has declared a general holiday on 7 November each year for National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

The day was a general holiday under past BNP governments, but the Awami League cancelled it after coming to power in 2009.
