Eight children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while no one died of confirmed measles in the same period.
The figures, covering 8am on Friday to 8am on Saturday, came in a message from the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday.
This year’s deaths from measles and its symptoms have now risen to 1,122, the directorate said: 102 from confirmed measles and 1,020 with measles symptoms. All eight deaths in the past 24 hours were in Dhaka division.
In the same period 43 measles cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 21,666. Another 1,109 people showed measles symptoms, taking suspected infections to 195,197.
