A decorator’s worker named Shakil Ahmed, 19, was electrocuted while disconnecting the power supply at a puja pandal in Kaunia, Rangpur.
The accident happened on Wednesday (21 October) afternoon at the Diglotari Durga temple at Rajib Chaitarmor in Tepamadhupur, Kaunia.
Shakil was the son of Jahidul Islam of Mondoltari village in Tepamadhupur union. He worked at Mahin Sound and Decorator, a shop in Madhupur Bazar.
Badal Kumar Mondal, officer-in-charge of Kaunia police station, said the decorator’s equipment was being taken down after Dashami. Shakil was electrocuted while unhooking a generator cable from a joint in the power line. Local people took him to the Kaunia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
