A special mobile court and eviction drive has been carried out to beautify areas under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), free open spaces from encroachment and ensure the unobstructed movement of the public.
The drive was carried out on Sunday (July 5) in the Sabji Bagan area of Ward 19 of the corporation, led by DSCC property officer and executive magistrate Hasiba Khan.
During the drive, all kinds of illegal temporary shops and structures built by encroaching on the roads and footpaths of the Sabji Bagan area were removed, and the area was completely cleared and cleaned. In addition, for illegally occupying government land to set up nurseries, the owners of eight nurseries were fined a total of Tk 8,000 through eight cases, and were given a strict directive to remove all plants completely from the nurseries concerned by 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The Dhaka South City Corporation said such eviction drives and mobile courts against illegal encroachment would continue regularly to protect the city’s environment and keep public movement smooth.
