The 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results under the Jashore Education Board have declined markedly from the previous year in both pass rate and GPA-5. This year the board’s pass rate stands at 66.27%, against 73.69% last year — a drop of 7.42 percentage points in a single year. The number of GPA-5 achievers has also fallen: 11,478 students earned GPA-5 this year, against 15,419 last year — a fall of 3,941 in a year. Earlier, in 2024, 20,761 students had earned GPA-5 in this board.
At an event on Monday morning to release the SSC results, Jashore Education Board controller of examinations Professor S M Hossain Ali presented various aspects of the results. Board secretary Professor Abdul Matin said students’ excessive use of mobile phones was hurting their studies, and that weakness in English and mathematics had also lowered the pass rate. He said answer scripts had been properly evaluated and no one given extra marks. Analysis shows the Jashore board’s pass rate was 92.32% in 2024, falling to 73.69% in 2025 and further to 66.27% in 2026 — a drop of 26.5 percentage points in just two years. A similar downward trend was seen in GPA-5: 20,761 students in 2024, 15,419 in 2025 and 11,478 this year.
