A reception and discussion honouring “July fighters” was held in Jhenaidah’s Mahespur to mark July Uprising Day 2026, organised by the upazila administration.
At the event at the upazila auditorium on Wednesday morning, chaired by upazila executive officer (UNO) Md Sajjad Hossain, Jhenaidah-3 MP Md Matiar Rahman spoke as chief guest. Special guests included former Mahespur upazila chairman and district Jamaat assistant secretary Maulana Abdul Hai, upazila BNP president Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Roni, Mahespur police station OC Mehedi Hasan, general secretary Dabir Uddin Bishwas, organising secretary Ziaur Rahman Zia, and Mahespur Chhatra Dal leader Abdul Malek. Among the July fighters, July Fighters’ Council president Mehedi Hasan Bappi, Shafiqul Islam, Amit, Nur Alam, Md Hasan and Kazi Billal also spoke.
The event remembered with deep respect the martyrs and injured of the July uprising, highlighting the importance of their sacrifice for democracy, justice and nation-building and praying for the souls of all the martyrs. Receptions and gifts were given at the end of the event.
