As part of the “250 million trees in 5 years” programme, Benapole municipal BNP in Jashore held a tree-planting drive for a fourth day. It was held on Friday afternoon in the Benapole checkpost and Gazipur areas.

Saplings were planted at various spots in the programme, funded personally by Benapole municipal BNP general secretary Abu Taher.

Welcoming the prime minister’s announced 250-million-tree programme, he said BNP leaders and workers were coming forward to plant trees in various districts, upazilas, municipalities and unions across the country.

He added that trees were immensely important to human life, supplying oxygen, firewood, flowers and fruit as well as ingredients for making various medicines.

Present at the programme were Benapole municipal BNP vice-president Nasirul Goni Boltu, publicity and publication secretary Abdul Munaf, ward-3 BNP president Rafiqul Islam, ward-6 BNP general secretary Ishaq Miya, Sadipur union BNP leader Nazrul Islam and leaders and workers of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and various wings and associate bodies of the BNP.
