LONDON — International crude oil prices fell on Tuesday on the prospect that peace talks between Iran and the United States could resume, with the decline holding through the trading session.
Hopes that supply from the key Middle Eastern region could increase weighed on investor sentiment. Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, fell 69 cents to $94.79 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude prices fell about 1.3%.
Geopolitical tensions over the weekend had cast doubt on the future of the talks, sending oil prices up about 6% on Monday.
With the renewed prospect of talks, market conditions have begun to stabilize and oil prices have pulled back from those elevated levels.
