Iran has achieved a series of remarkable successes in drone and air-defence technology, dismissing all claims by hostile Western media, its senior military officers say. They said that even in the face of recent US and Israeli aggression, Iran had been able to produce more advanced and sophisticated military equipment.
Brigadier General Mohammad Yousefi Khoshkalb, deputy commander of the Iranian army’s air-defence branch, strongly rejected claims by foreign media that Iran’s air-defence system had been weakened.
“Regular programmes have been running successfully across the country. The complete security of our water and land borders, and the absence of any enemy aircraft in Iran’s skies, prove how dynamic, alert and prepared our integrated air-defence system is,” he said.
Yousefi Khoshkalb said Iran’s armed forces had been able to penetrate the Israeli regime’s missile-defence system, the “Iron Dome,” and strike specific targets, demonstrating the strength of their advanced drone capability. The use of such advanced drones on the battlefield had now become routine for Iranian forces and was advancing at speed, he said.
He acknowledged, however, that some Iranian military equipment had been damaged during a 12-day war imposed by the United States and Israel in June 2024 and during a 40-day surprise offensive by the two adversaries that began on 28 February. But this had not halted Iran’s progress, he said.
“Relying on the scientific, industrial and knowledge-based capabilities of the air-defence force, the defence ministry and the armed forces, we are witnessing steady progress in our defence systems,” Yousefi Khoshkalb said, adding that the use of modern and effective equipment in battlefield and air-war management had become an everyday matter for Iran.
Separately, on Sunday, Iranian army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-nia said Iran had been able to produce more advanced and sophisticated military equipment even amid the recent 40-day offensive war by the United States and Israel.
