TEHRAN — Iran has secretly gained access to a high-resolution Chinese spy satellite that is dramatically improving the accuracy of its missile and drone strikes against U.S. military bases across the Middle East, according to leaked intelligence documents.
The growing military and technological cooperation between Iran and China has added a new dimension to Middle East geopolitics, analysts said. Recent intelligence findings indicate that Iran has used the Chinese-built satellite to sharply increase the precision of its strikes.
Defense experts said the technology has played a major role in Iran’s recent precision attacks on U.S. military bases in the region.
According to leaked documents, Iran has covertly gained control of the TEE-01B spy satellite, built by a private Chinese firm called Earth Eye. The satellite is capable of sending half-meter resolution images, roughly 10 times more powerful than Iran’s own satellites.
With the satellite’s help, Iranian commanders are collecting real-time imagery and intelligence on U.S. and allied bases in the Middle East, including Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
Defense analysts said Iran’s missiles and drones, which previously could miss their targets, are now striking with high accuracy thanks to the combination of China’s Beidou navigation system and the high-quality imaging satellite. The system allows Iran to identify targets precisely before an attack and quickly assess damage afterward.
China has denied providing direct military assistance. Beijing has called such reports baseless and politically motivated. U.S. President Donald Trump reacted sharply to the reports, warning that any country providing military aid to Iran would face severe trade sanctions.
Military analysts said China’s technological assistance amounts to waging a form of digital warfare on Iran’s behalf without being present on the battlefield. The support is also strengthening Iran’s proxies in the Middle East, creating new challenges for Western defense strategies in the region.
This satellite diplomacy is rendering years of Western sanctions on Iran ineffective while marking another milestone in China’s growing dominance in space technology, analysts said.
