Hafez Maulana Abdul Hamid has retired as khatib of Basuniyapara Jame Mosque in Debiganj upazila, Panchagarh, after 47 years of continuous service. The community organized a farewell ceremony in his honor.
The event was held on Sunday afternoon (July 5) on the mosque premises. He was presented with flowers, a commemorative plaque, two cattle, and other gifts in recognition of his decades of service.
Speakers at the ceremony said he had served with dedication, honesty, and sincerity for 47 years, guiding people according to the Quran and Sunnah and playing a vital role in promoting morality, harmony, and Islamic values in the community.
The retiring khatib expressed gratitude to all those present and sought their prayers.
