Two more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, taking deaths from measles and its symptoms since March 15 to 805. A further 1,014 people were found with measles or its symptoms in the past day.
The information came in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles report on Thursday, July 23.
The health directorate said two children died with measles symptoms in the past day, one each in Sylhet and Rangpur divisions. In all, 805 people have died of measles or its symptoms nationwide from March 15 to Thursday — 710 with measles symptoms and 95 from confirmed measles.
Meanwhile, 166 people were confirmed with measles across the country in the past 24 hours, and symptoms of the disease were found in another 848. That takes the total showing measles symptoms from March 15 to Thursday to 121,200, with a total of 15,007 confirmed measles cases in the period.
According to the health directorate’s report, a total of 103,863 people have been hospitalised with measles or its symptoms nationwide from March 15 to Thursday, of whom 100,188 have recovered and been discharged.
