One dengue death in 24 hours, nearly 900 hospitalized

One person died of dengue in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, while 870 newly infected patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services released the figures in a bulletin Monday, August 17.

The figures bring the total number of dengue patients hospitalized so far this year to 24,848. At least 71 people have died of dengue so far this year.

According to the bulletin, of the patients hospitalized over the past 24 hours, 404 were in Dhaka division, 102 in Barishal division, 90 in Chattogram division, 153 in Khulna division, 51 in Mymensingh division, 57 in Rajshahi division, and 13 in Sylhet and Rangpur divisions combined.

Of the 71 dengue deaths recorded so far this year, 28 were men and 43 were women.
