Three more children died of measles-like symptoms nationwide over the past 24 hours. During this period, another 1,072 people newly developed measles or measles-like symptoms. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed this information in its regular measles report Thursday, August 20.
DGHS said two children died of measles-like symptoms in Dhaka division alone over the past day. Alongside this, one more death from measles-like symptoms was recorded in Sylhet division during this period. In total, from March 15 through Thursday, 925 people have died nationwide from measles and its symptoms. Of these, 826 died with measles-like symptoms and 99 died after contracting measles. Meanwhile, 68 new measles cases were confirmed nationwide over the past 24 hours. During this period, another 1,004 people developed symptoms of the disease. With this, a total of 146,715 people have shown measles symptoms from March 15 through Thursday. Alongside this, a total of 18,144 measles cases have been confirmed during this period. According to the DGHS report, a total of 128,026 people have been hospitalized nationwide with measles and its symptoms from March 15 through Thursday. Of these, 123,684 have so far recovered and been discharged from hospital.
