DHAKA — Seven more children died of measles and related symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, and 1,494 more were hospitalized, the Directorate General of Health Services said Friday.

The figures were released by the directorate’s control room in a press statement.

One child died of confirmed measles in the past 24 hours, the statement said, bringing total deaths from confirmed measles to 58 between March 15 and May 8. Six more children died of suspected measles in the past 24 hours, bringing total suspected-measles deaths in the same period to 285.

The number of suspected measles patients was 1,212 in the past 24 hours and 46,710 between March 15 and May 8, the directorate said.

Confirmed measles cases reached 282 in the past 24 hours and 6,490 between March 15 and May 8.

A total of 32,862 children with suspected measles were hospitalized between March 15 and May 8, the directorate said. Over the same period, 29,152 children recovered and were discharged.
