Three more children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours across Bangladesh, while 1,106 new cases of measles and its symptoms were reported, the Directorate General of Health Services said in its regular measles update Monday.
The health directorate said one child each died with measles symptoms in Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions. No confirmed measles deaths were reported in the same period. Since March 15, a total of 741 people have died from measles and related symptoms across the country.
In the past 24 hours, 159 new confirmed measles cases were detected, while 947 more people showed symptoms of the disease. Since March 15, a cumulative total of 106,565 people have presented with measles symptoms, while 12,791 cases have been confirmed.
According to the health directorate’s report, 89,734 people have been hospitalized with measles and its symptoms since March 15. Of those, 86,062 have recovered and been discharged.
