Seven children have died from measles-related symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,171 children were affected by measles or measles-like symptoms.
The Directorate General of Health Services disclosed the information Wednesday afternoon in an updated report on measles.
The notice said seven more children died nationwide from measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, though none was confirmed to have died from a confirmed measles infection.
With this, a total of 851 children have died from measles symptoms nationwide since March 15, while another 99 children have died from confirmed measles infections — bringing total deaths linked to measles and measles-like symptoms to 950 over the period.
An additional 73 children were confirmed infected with measles in the past 24 hours, while 1,098 patients showed measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 1,019 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 954 were discharged.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the total number of suspected measles cases nationwide since March 15 stands at 152,736, with 18,651 confirmed cases. Of these, 133,573 patients in total were hospitalized, of whom 128,765 have already been discharged and returned home.
