Four more children die of measles symptoms

Four more children have died of measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, with no deaths from confirmed measles in that period, the health directorate said in its updated measles report on Saturday. The report said that in the past 24 hours (8am Friday to 8am Saturday), 74 people were confirmed with measles and 699 showed measles symptoms.

It said 689 people have died of measles symptoms across the country from 15 March to now, and another 95 have died of confirmed measles — a total of 784 deaths from measles and measles symptoms. Of the four who died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, three were from the Sylhet division and one from the Dhaka division. The health directorate said the number of suspected measles patients from 15 March to now stood at 1,16,710, of whom 14,318 were confirmed measles patients; 99,249 were hospitalised in that period, of whom 95,529 have left hospital after treatment.
