Sylhet Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Sarwar Alam has been recalled. The information was given in a notification signed by Jety Pru, senior assistant secretary of the Uni-2 branch of the Public Administration Ministry, on Sunday.

The notification said Md Sarwar Alam, the deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Sylhet, had been recalled and posted to the Public Administration Ministry as a deputy secretary. The order, issued in the public interest, would take effect immediately.

However, the specific reason for the recall, and who would be given charge as the new deputy commissioner of Sylhet, was not mentioned in the order.

Sarwar Alam had been posted as deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Sylhet in a Public Administration Ministry notification on August 18, 2025. An officer of the 27th BCS administration cadre, Sarwar Alam had been well known as an executive magistrate of RAB. While serving as a senior assistant secretary, he was widely praised for conducting more than 300 anti-adulteration drives as a RAB executive magistrate, drawing attention and public praise for running drives against adulteration and irregularities.
