Why this committee matters
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts is one of parliament’s most important committees. Its work covers government spending, audit objections, and accountability for public accounts. Once the budget is passed, the committee plays a key oversight role in examining how public funds are being spent, what irregularities audits uncover, and how ministries and agencies respond to those findings.
